Chase Jarvis said it first, and he was right: the best camera is the one that you have with you. With each update, our smartphone cameras get better and better. While they aren't a complete substitute for DSLRs, they can certainly hold their own. In this session, you'll learn how to make the most of your smartphone camera and unlock all of the features for capture made possible by Adobe Lightroom CC for Mobile. The 90 minutes will be spent outside on the resort property during golden hour. We'll have time for a Lightroom CC camera tutorial before going off to photograph independently or within small groups. During this time, Pei will do a few brief shooting demos on finding the light and working a scene. In the end, we'll reconvene to share our images and experiences, while Pei answers attendee questions.

Tarah will show you how she consistently captures connections in her images, while sharing how to effectively use light and environment, recognizing the times and places that will let her subjects shine. Then she will show you how she fosters connections: both between the subjects themselves and between the subjects and her camera. It is this focus on emotion that allows Tarah to create memorable, timeless work and she is sharing all of her secrets in this class! Students should be comfortable shooting in manual mode and have a basic understanding of light. Both hobbyists and professionals are welcome.

Join True for a whimsical styled senior shootout. First, you'll learn how she prepares her seniors for their sessions, what equipment she uses, and how she turns a not-so-glamorous space into a magical backdrop! Then she'll cover posing and natural light, showing you how she uses her reflector to get beautiful, straight-out-of-camera shots. Finally, True will talk about the different lenses she uses and show you why she needs more than one. Attendees will be divided into groups and given time to photograph the models with True's assistance and guidance. We recommend that attendees know how to shoot in manual mode, however, all levels of photography are welcome to sign up for the class. (For the program held at the beach, True will show attendees how she incorporates water and the beach environment into her portraits).

Whether you are the woman in front of the camera or behind it, the female photographic experience can be intimidating. In Chanel's boutique program you will get to watch her as she guides her subjects toward total confidence, using poses and words of affirmation to help the women in front of her camera relax and look amazing. She will also show how she takes control of the shoot to exude that very same confidence from behind the camera.
Chanel will detail how she plans a shoot with intention and a vision, how she styles a woman to look her best in every frame, and how she incorporate props into the session that make sense. In this outdoor boutique session attendees will have the opportunity to shoot alongside Chanel as she demonstrates her techniques. Attendees will then split into smaller groups and assigned their own model where they can take control of posing the models and creating images. You will leave feeling more confident in your abilities and energized to be a positive force for women in the field of photography.
Attendees should be comfortable shooting in manual mode and are encouraged to shoot with their favorite portrait lenses.

In this styled shoot, Ebony will share her secrets for drawing out emotion and capturing all types of couples in dreamy and emotional moments. She will discuss her entire strategy for couples photography and how her approach to working with all types of couples has changed her wedding photography business for the better. During the shoot, she will demonstrate the difference between photographing people versus photographing emotion and connection with depth and atmosphere. She will provide all the tips and tricks you need to coach your couples through a moment-driven session, and she will provide the technical and creative tools to implement them in your own business. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of how to create both connection and depth in couples sessions (and wedding work!). Expect to shoot a lot as Ebony steps back and coaches the couple through a variety of memorable moments and poses.

Join Virgina in this shooting boutique, as you reframe your approach and using play-based, moment-driven, child-centered methods, can help your subjects be who they truly are. This shift allows the photographer to capture the unique connections, love, silliness, quirks, and imperfect perfectness of the people in front of the camera. When you create opportunities for children and families to play together, you can not only give your subjects images that they will cherish, but memories that will last forever. In these photo sessions, the experience matters just as much as the photos that you create.
This shooting class will examine not only how to lead a play-based, moment-driven family photography session, but will explore why Virginia feels it’s such a vital perspective to use throughout both your professional and personal photography. Watch Virginia conduct a family photography session using her play-based methods and have opportunities to shoot in groups to get real-time practice using the tools from class. Virginia is an open book and will answer any questions candidly and honestly throughout the boutique session and in a Q&A period at the end.
Focal lengths between 24mm and 85mm will be useful for this type of session - Virginia will use a 24-70mm to capture both wide and tight shots that can tell a full story. Experience shooting in manual mode is a bonus, but not required.
