Most of us follow them, many of us want to be them, and all of us wonder how they make that magic happen.  Step “Behind the Lens of the Influencer” with Arielle Levy. As a professional fashion & lifestyle influencer photographer, Arielle will share the ins and outs of breaking into this space, show you how to shoot and edit images that drive likes, and discuss the relationship between photographers, influencers, and brands.

Are you an influencer who wants to up her social game?  Do you want to get the attention of brands and build relationships? Or are you a photographer who wants to create more engaging lifestyle work? This program is for all of you!  From posing, shooting products, and using props to composition, location scouting, and lens choice, Arielle will reveal the tips and tricks to creating photos that tell a story and draw attention on social media. Creating a successful black and white image is about so much more than just converting it in the post-processing stage. Light, shape, form, texture, tonal range, and countless other elements need to come together if you want to capture a beautiful black and white photograph. Join Dana in a lifestyle suite as she explores the artistic process of visualizing, photographing, and editing monochromatic portraits with three models from different generations. Free yourself artistically as she demonstrates ways you can add interest to your portraits by including movement, using specialty lenses, and more. You'll come out of the session with the ability to add depth to your portfolio with beautiful black and white images.
Attendees will have the opportunity to photograph each model by breaking-up into small shooting groups after Dana’s demonstration. Students are encouraged to bring both a portrait lens and a specialty/creative lens if available and should be comfortable shooting in manual mode.

From the first bites of solid food, to the first soccer games, so many of us start our photography journey because we wanted to capture the cute and memorable moments of our kids' lives. Looking back, these are the images that make us smile and say, "Awww." But what happens when you yearn for something more artistic, aiming for something higher? Learn to move from "awwww" to awe, as Natalie breaks down the components that make a photo sweet AND powerful. She will talk about how to bring the sense of awe into our own photos by making viewers feel our photos. From kids to clients, Natalie will show you how to take you work to the next level. At the end of the presentation, the group will shoot creatively with two young boys (ages 5 and 7). Attendees should have a strong grasp of photography basics and are encouraged to bring their own cameras.

Bring back the drama of Hollywood's golden age and learn the basics of portraits from posing and composition to lighting. Creating a timeless portrait is an art. Go behind the scenes and learn how Kate develops her classic-with-a-twist black and white portraits using both natural and artificial light. Learn light setups and poses that flatter a variety of subjects. Bring your flash and learn about bounced flash, ice lights or continuous light, and even simple window light and how manipulating curtains can dramatically change the final look of the image. Kate will even cover wardrobe and makeup tips!! Learn how to top it off with the perfect black and white edit for a classic, timeless image. For the sake of time, an editing demonstration will not take place live, but Kate will provide an editing video leading up to the conference for you to arrive with any questions and she will send out an additional editing video of an image taken during the boutique.

Attendees will take also home a lighting guide with classic light setups and Kate's custom black and white action for timeless silver screen portraits.

Chase Jarvis said it first, and he was right: the best camera is the one that you have with you. With each update, our smartphone cameras get better and better. While they aren't a complete substitute for DSLRs, they can certainly hold their own. In this session, you'll learn how to make the most of your smartphone camera and unlock all of the features for capture made possible by Adobe Lightroom CC for Mobile. The 90 minutes will be spent outside on the resort property during golden hour. We'll have time for a Lightroom CC camera tutorial before going off to photograph independently or within small groups. During this time, Pei will do a few brief shooting demos on finding the light and working a scene. In the end, we'll reconvene to share our images and experiences, while Pei answers attendee questions.

Storytelling isn’t just for documentary photographers--storytelling is at the heart of all photography. The unique gift of photography is that it documents a moment that will never happen again. In this program, Neely will discuss the parallels between the 7 literary components of a good novel and the ways in which they can be applied to tell a story photographically. Learn to be an effective visual storyteller by using things like environment, light, composition, movement, color theory, and the connection between subjects to piece their stories together. Neely will take some time discussing telling a story in a single frame or through a series of images and how to do both. She’ll discuss the significance of empathy and keen observation as the driving forces behind impactful storytelling. Attendees will learn how to see light and use it as an integral storytelling tool. Storytelling isn’t just for documentary photographers--storytelling is at the heart of all photography. The unique gift of photography is that it documents a moment that will never happen again. In this program, Neely will discuss the parallels between the 7 literary components of a good novel and the ways in which they can be applied to tell a story photographically. Learn to be an effective visual storyteller by using things like environment, light, composition, movement, color theory, and the connection between subjects to piece their stories together. Neely will take some time discussing telling a story in a single frame or through a series of images and how to do both. She’ll discuss the significance of empathy and keen observation as the driving forces behind impactful storytelling. Attendees will learn how to see light and use it as an integral storytelling tool. Finally, Neely will share a live edit to show how she further emphasizes light and uses depth to draw the eye to the subject. This diverse course will be packed with concrete information regarding technique as well as abstract concepts designed to spark your heart with inspiration!

She will talk about how to bring the sense of awe into our own photos by making viewers feel our photos. From kids to clients, Natalie will show you how to take you work to the next level. At the end of the presentation, the group will shoot creatively with two young boys (ages 5 and 7). Join Dana in a lifestyle suite as she explores the artistic process of visualizing, photographing, and editing monochromatic portraits with three models from different generations.
