BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: A Window Anywhere: Embracing LED Light for Still Life & Food that Looks 100% Natural
Limited Capacity seats available

Light is always the heart of photography, but what do you do if the light you adore is not cooperating? By approaching LED lights in the way she approaches natural light, Caroline came up with a method that makes LED lighting look 100% natural, no matter the time of day or the weather outside. What started as an attempt to get food images in the middle of the night, blossomed into a studio for portraits and still life as well. Join Caroline in creating images that mimic the use of window light. Lens preference: A medium prime (35-50mm) or a standard zoom (24-70mm) is preferred. Participants should be aware that they may be shooting down at a flat lay set, so longer lenses may be cumbersome. Experience shooting in manual is preferred, but the instructor will call out settings for beginners to plug into their cameras.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn how to create a believable 'window' with LED lighting, anywhere
- Learn why your frustrations with light can be a thing of the past
- Learn how to place your subject and frame your subject to best mimic a natural window scene

BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: Dreamy Seascapes
Limited Capacity filling up

Join Kristen Ryan and capture creative seascapes with filters, intentional camera setting choices, and perspective. You will begin with a discussion of basic settings for beach photography. Surveying the environment, you will consider how you can use foreground, shoreline, and perspective to add depth to seascapes. Kristen will then demonstrate ways to capture the entire dynamic range of the scene including using a graduated filter, multiple exposures or exposing for the best possible single exposure. She'll talk about the various shutter speed options for capturing the ocean and kind of image you will achieve with each. Finally, you'll see Kristen demonstrate the use of a neutral density filter to capture long exposures. Following the demonstration and discussion of these concepts, there will be time for questions, discussion, and student shooting. Those with tripods and filters can experiment with long exposures and those without can focus on composition and dialing-in the ideal exposure. It is recommended that students have experience shooting in manual mode. It is also recommended that highlight warnings are turned on in-camera and that students know how to turn on bracketing in camera. If bringing a neutral density filter, a Little Stopper (6 stops) or Big Stopper (10 stops) is recommended. Tripods and filters are recommended for trying the various techniques but are not required to attend the session. All attendees are welcome to observe and learn for later practice if they don’t have a tripod or filters accessible.

Learning Objectives:
- Learn basic settings for seascapes and how to compose for depth at the beach
- Learn how to capture the dynamic range using a graduated filter, multiple exposures, and histogram evaluation
- Experiment with shutter speed creativity and using neutral density filters for longer exposures

BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: Dreamy Seascapes
Limited Capacity seats available
