BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: Why We Play: Creating Lasting Moments & Imagery
Limited Capacity seats available

As photographers, we are charged with the incredibly important task of creating a visual legacy for those who are in front of our cameras. We want our photos to capture not only how our subjects looked, but how they lived and how they loved. Join Virgina in this shooting boutique, as you reframe your approach and using play-based, moment-driven, child-centered methods, can help your subjects be who they truly are. This shift allows the photographer to capture the unique connections, love, silliness, quirks, and imperfect perfectness of the people in front of the camera. When you create opportunities for children and families to play together, you can not only give your subjects images that they will cherish, but memories that will last forever. In these photo sessions, the experience matters just as much as the photos that you create.

This shooting class will examine not only how to lead a play-based, moment-driven family photography session, but will explore why Virginia feels it’s such a vital perspective to use throughout both your professional and personal photography. Watch Virginia conduct a family photography session using her play-based methods and have opportunities to shoot in groups to get real-time practice using the tools from class. Virginia is an open book and will answer any questions candidly and honestly throughout the boutique session and in a Q&A period at the end.

Focal lengths between 24mm and 85mm will be useful for this type of session - Virginia will use a 24-70mm to capture both wide and tight shots that can tell a full story. Experience shooting in manual mode is a bonus, but not required.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn to establish trust with the people you are photographing
- Learn to incorporate a play-based, child-centered approach to photography through connection games and prompts
- Gain tips and tools to encourage playfulness and genuine connections with your subjects
- Get ideas on how to train yourself to shift your perspective and trust yourself
- Understand why the experience of the photo taking matters as much as the photos themselves

PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS: Photographing a Feeling: How to get emotive images from any session
Limited Capacity seats available

Have you ever been to a photography talk where you were super inspired but left with no tangible ways to implement what you learned? Yeah, this talk hates that talk. This talk wants to inspire you but also not leave you hanging. This talk wants to give you all the tools to take interesting photos that you don’t hate. You don’t have to have naturally candid clients to take emotive images-- that process begins and ends with you.

In this talk you will learn how to get emotive images from every single session. Yep you heard that right --Chloe will cover how to do this for families, couples, weddings. You will go through the importance of connecting with your clients on a deeper level pre-shoot so that you will know the best ways to photograph them. You will learn ways to foster an environment that gives your clients the confidence to be who they are. Chloe will break down exactly how to direct (instead of posing) to achieve more natural-looking images. She will demonstrate how she creates the mood she wants through a method she calls """"mirroring the mood"""" as she works with a real couple on stage. Finally, you will look at composition as a tool and how to use the environment you are in to create photos that are more dynamic. Chloe will help you create photos that make you proud as an artist at every single session.

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, Chloe will cry (because she has feelings, too), and you'll learn honest ways to take emotive images at every session.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn how to connect with your subject pre shoot (a free copy of Chloe's couples questionnaire to use)
- Learn how to foster an environment during your shoot that allows your clients to open up
- Learn how to use directing over posing/mirroring the mood/composition to help ease your subjects into natural images

She will demonstrate how she creates the mood she wants through a method she calls ""mirroring the mood"" as she works with a real couple on stage.
