BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: Storytelling: The Heart of Photography
Limited Capacity seats available

Storytelling isn’t just for documentary photographers--storytelling is at the heart of all photography. The unique gift of photography is that it documents a moment that will never happen again. In this program, Neely will discuss the parallels between the 7 literary components of a good novel and the ways in which they can be applied to tell a story photographically. Learn to be an effective visual storyteller by using things like environment, light, composition, movement, color theory, and the connection between subjects to piece their stories together. Neely will take some time discussing telling a story in a single frame or through a series of images and how to do both. She’ll discuss the significance of empathy and keen observation as the driving forces behind impactful storytelling. Attendees will learn how to see light and use it as an integral storytelling tool. Finally, Neely will share a live edit to show how she further emphasizes light and uses depth to draw the eye to the subject. This diverse course will be packed with concrete information regarding technique as well as abstract concepts designed to spark your heart with inspiration!
