BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: Gather at the Table: Styled Food Photography
Limited Capacity filling up

Food photography is a wonderful way to stretch creatively while working without time constraints. In this boutique session you'll learn to style and photograph food using natural light and minimal props. Allison will start off with a short discussion about the basics of food photography and jump into a demonstration. You'll see how she creates a styled food photo as she talks through each step and explains all of her decisions, from choosing the background and props to the camera angles and more. You will learn how to choose a background for your food photography, how to style the frame for composition (including tips for using color), how to choose and use props, and how to use natural light effectively. There will also be the opportunity for you to style your own food using backgrounds, props, and food provided or to shoot the setups created by Allison during the demonstrations. It is helpful (but not required) if you have knowledge of shooting in manual mode. This program will take place inside so we can simulate the type of light you'll find in homes and restaurants.

Learning Objectives:

- Practice with different background options for food photography
- Learn what items make great props and why
- Learn how the way the light you choose impacts the final photo
- Learn about the most common camera angles for food photography
- Learn what compositions work well for food photography

BOUTIQUE PROGRAM: Expressive Kids
Limited Capacity seats available

Join Tenley as she shares all of the tips, games, and tricks she's learned in her 10+ years of experience creating expressive portraits of kids of all ages and personalities. This demonstration class will start with a discussion to go over her go-to ideas for each age (hello toddlers and angsty teens!), personality (over-hyper, shy, stiff, and uncooperative, just to name a few!) and how to overcome obstacles. Next she will go over how to style your photoshoots by utilizing clothing, color, backgrounds, and props to really bring your vision to life. She will cover how to style shoots yourself (and even make your own props), how to help your clients style their kids themselves and how to make sure everything comes together even when you don’t know what they will wear ahead of time. You will then get to watch her style and photograph models of varying ages (toddler to 8 years old) with homemade props on colorful backdrops while getting a variety expressions and overcoming any obstacles that may arise. Attendees will leave with a handy go-to guide to keep in your camera bag.

Learning Objectives:

- Learn tricks, prompts and games to get kids to loosen up or give them a specific expression desired for the image
- Learn how to deal with children who are shy, stiff, hyper, or not wanting to cooperate
- Learn posing through movement and direction (vs. stagnant minute micromanaging) which creates a more natural looking image and subject
- Learn how to style your very own Expressive Kids shoot
